Connecting People
Broadening future opportunities, gaining access
Urban youth are at a disadvantage to their suburban counter parts. Youths in New York City, like those in Chicago, are surrounded by a wealth of culture and opportunity, yet they are inherently sheltered—whether from their parents or schools. Exposing urban youths to the opportunities of their respective cities with a bit of trust and encouragement prepare them for a successful, motivated future.
It’s not just about working with youth. It’s also about connecting one-on-one with them and really making a difference in their lives. I’ve seen real connections occur between a hardened youth and the professional go-getter. It happens when youth glimpse the truth of what you’re saying or doing, and when the professionals open up enough to share and to trust that youth get it.
